During the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Buslink Sunshine Coast played a pivotal role in assisting with the transportation needs within the “rail replacement” sector.
Buslink provided 10 buses and drivers, who assisted in the following services:
- Service 610: From Boggo Rd Station to Altandi Station
- Service 614: From Central Station to Beenleigh Station
These drivers worked 10 hours per day over the 11 day period, driving between 350-400km per day. These services were vital to provide transport for the local community with the least disruption to their regular activities.
Our drivers did an amazing job, given that they were in Brisbane and driving in unfamiliar territory, while also dealing with many last-minute changes by the Commonwealth Games Organisers. All in all, our drivers thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They loved providing a service to the general public (versus their normal school age passengers) and getting out and about in the Commonwealth Games culture. Thanks to all that assisted in this program.
